!OBITUARY: ARNOLD JOHN DOEDYNS

SAN JUAN - Arnold John Doedyns, 92, died Saturday, January 9, 2010 at the McAllen Medical Center. Mr. Doedyns was born 1917 in Omaha, NE and came to San Juan in November of 1917. He is preceded in death by his wife, Myrtle Ellen, whom he met in Laramie Wyoming prior to World War II.

He was a life long member of the People's Covenant Church; a Master Mason for 60 plus years and last member of the Freemasons San Juan Lodge No. 1173 AF & AM; Past Worthy Patron with his wife as Matron of the Order of Eastern Star; San Juan City Commissioner; a past member of San Juan Volunteer Fire Department; a past member of San Juan Lions Club.

He retired as Superintendent of the Tenneco Oil O.W. Ward Gas Refinery Plant after working some 33 years at this plant; was a part time farmer for some 33-years; was employed by Union Pacific Railroad for 11 years.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John G.C. & Olga Marie Doedyns, Sr.; brothers Joseph (Doris) Doedyns, John (Wessie) Doedyns, Jr. and James Doedyns; sisters Carolyn (William) Bodensky and Eny (Robert) Holman.

Survivors include his children, Michael A. Doedyns of San Juan, TX and Margaret E. (G Michael) Lawrence of Alexandria, VA; grandchildren, Melissa E. (Jon) Alexander of Tyler, TX, Keesha L. Lawrence of Arlington, VA, Geoffrey M. (Terra) Lawrence of King William, VA and Kameron L. Lawrence of Alexandria, VA; great grand children, Jace M Alexander and Makenzie E Alexander of Tyler, TX; sister Patricia Taylor of Corpus Christi, TX; sister-in-law Carolyn Doedyns Walker of Springfield, MO; and numerous nephews and nieces.

Visitation will be from 12 -8 p.m., January 22, 2010 at Kreidler Funeral Home, Inc on N. 10th Street in McAllen. The family will be present from 5:00-7:00 pm. Funeral services will be at 2:00 pm Saturday, January 23, 2010 at Kreidler Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Roselawn Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to People's Covenant Church, PO Box 124, San Juan, Texas 78589.
