Francis "Frank" Patrick Rowe, was born September 17, 1911, in Ellendale, ND. He was the son of Richard William & Catherine Jane (Kelly) Rowe. He was raised and educated in the Forbes, ND area and graduated from the Forbes High School in 1929. Frank then went on to teach country school for two years in the Forbes area. In 1931, he began his employment with Knoll's Construction in Fargo, ND. On June 29, 1937, Frank married Margaret Lucille Hamilton in Aberdeen, SD. After their marriage Frank continued to work constructing roads in North and South Dakota. In 1941, Frank began his employment with the McDonald-Douglas Aircraft Factory while working on a dairy farm in Los Angeles, CA. In 1943, he began construction work in Los Angeles while continuing work on the dairy farm. In 1944, Frank and Margaret were blessed with their son Richard. In 1946, Frank and margaret moved to Ellendale where he began a partnership in construction with Walt Oxenrider in Oxenrider and Rowe Construction. In 1960, Frank and Margaret leased the Marge McShane farm where Frank farmed and continued his work in construction. In 1981, Frank retired from construction. On March 18, 1992, Margaret died. In 1994, Frank moved to Monticello, MN to live with his son and daughter-in-law, Richard and Gloria (Hartley) Rowe. There Frank kept busy doing the laundry, watering grass, stoking the fire and driving the tractor while Richard cut wood. He resided with Richard until his death on February 2, 1999, at North Memorial Medical Center in Robbinsdale, MN. Frank was a member of the Ellendale City Council and the Ellendale Senior citien center Board. he enjoyed baseball, ice skating, playing pool golf, renovating and renting out homes in Ellendale, reading, visiting, going out to breakfast with his son and traveling around looking at the country. Grateful to have shared in his life is his son & daughter-in-law; Richard and gloria Rowe of Monticello, MN; two grandsons: Bob Rowe of Maple Grove, MN and Frank Rowe of Monticello, MN. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, one grandson: Ricky Rowe and three sisters: Marguritte Karr, Maureen Young and Mary Whelan.
