Patricia "Pat" Lynn Kimmons passed away early morning Friday, October 14, 2011 at her home in Monticello, NY. Patricia celebrated her 50th birthday this past February.
Patricia was born in Margaretville, NY on February 23, 1961 to parents Beverly Ann Reyns and the late Louis Charles Reyns. She grew up all over the country with her parents and two siblings; older brother Chuck Reyns and younger sister Marilyn Ann Caster. As a child Patricia was known for her rambunctious nature and her ambitious attraction to gymnastics and thrills. She graduated from Monticello high school class of 1979. In October of 2009, Patricia was reunited with her high school sweetheart, Shelton Kimmons. On April 1, 2010 they were married in Las Vegas. Patricia and Shelton returned to reside in Monticello, NY at that time.
While in Las Vegas Pat served in many rolls but was most known and remembered for her service to her church, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, and her dedication to the care and rearing of children in her at-home daycare. As a strong and diligent member of her church, Patty was a rock for many of the members always at the forefront of any service project or Church sponsored function. In addition she worked tirelessly serving in many callings throughout her membership. As a day care provider, Patty cared for numerous children watching many of them grow and thrive into adulthood. Her apartment was thought as a second home to many neighborhood children and she was called "mom" throughout her apartment complex and community. In addition Patty had an uncanny and unconditional love for animals, all animals. She housed, rescued, and loved a numberless amount of stray animals in her time on earth often putting her needs last after those of her pets.
In addition to loving all those around her Patricia loved to spend time studying scriptures, going on "dates" with her children, playing with her only grandchild born March 7, 2009, Isabella Marie Moxon, visiting and serving friends, doing puzzles, writing letters to loved ones the "old fashion" way, and loving on anyone who would give her the chance, and those that didn't as well.
Patricia will be remembered as a woman of gracious generosity, genuine compassion, with natural sense of humor. Her sweet nature and tender nurturing will be missed by her family, friends, and the infinite acquaintances whose lives she has inspired throughout her short 50 year sojourn here on the earth.
Patricia is survived by her husband Shelton Kimmons of Monticello NY, children: Shannon Marie Moxon of Las Vegas, NV, Kevin Daniel Ortloff of Las Vegas, NV and Anthony Joseph Vivio of Las Vegas, NV; granddaughter, Isabella Marie Moxon of Las Vegas, NV; her mother, Beverly Ann Reyns of Monticello NY; brother, Chuck Reyns of Jacksonville, FL; sister, Marilyn Ann Caster of Sulpher OK; niece, Desireé Natasha Fox DuHadway of Sunnyvale, CA; great-nephew, Evan Fox DuHadway of Sunnyvale, CA; stepchildren, Shelton Kimmons Jr. and Stephen Kimmons of White Plains, NY; dear friends Jackie & Gary Reber and Nancy as well as many other loved ones and friends. Predecessors include her father Louis Charles Reyns and Aunt Barbara J. Babcock.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, October 19, 2011 from 12-1 pm at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, Belmont Drive, Monticello. Her funeral service will follow at 1pm at the church. President John Fuller will officiate. Burial will follow in Rock Ridge Cemetery, Monticello.
"I am the resurrection and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet he shall live. And whosoever liveth and believeth in me shall never die."
