U.S. Congresswoman. She attended the University of Indiana, was a teacher and was the Republican National committeewoman from Indiana, (1944-59, 64-72). In 1949, she was elected as a Republican to the Eighty-first Congress and to the four succeeding Congresses, serving until 1959. An unsuccessful candidate for reelection, she was special assistant for women’s affairs to Postmaster General, Washington, D.C., (1959-61) and a member, National Advisory Committee for the White House Conference on Aging, (1972-73). She died in retirement at age 90.
