In the 1901 census, William Frank Beckett was a 29 year old Surveyor.
His brother Gerald was aged 14.


William F. Beckett and Mary Jones Roe were married in Q3, 1901 in Dublin South district.

In the 1911 census, the Beckett family were living at Kerrymount, Foxrock.
Present were,
William Frank Beckett, aged 39, a Civil Engineer, born in Co. Dublin.

Samuel Beckett related a story that during the Easter Rising in April 1916, his father [then described as a "Quantity Surveyor"] took himself and his brother up into the foothills of the Dublin Mountains to see the flames, smoke and destruction of the city.
Samuel said that he was appalled by the destruction he saw.
His father was said to be delighted, thinking of the future building work involved.
