ROUNTREE: Iva Dean Allen Rountree, age 82, recently of Gwinnett County, GA, passed away on Wednesday, July 23, 2008.
She is survived by her son and daughter in law, Jim and Sandra Rountree; granddaughter, Shannon (Rountree) Gibree and her husband Seth; grandson, Chris Rountree and his wife Amie; great grandsons, Jackson and Cole Gibree; sister, Joan Veal and her husband Ralph; brother, Willard Allen and his wife Corliss; numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James C. Rountree; father, Elmer Allen; and mother, Gertie Allen.
Iva Dean grew up, worked, and married in Swainsboro, GA. In 1957 she and James moved to Pensacola, FL, where she worked as Financial Secretary for the First Baptist Church of Pensacola. At retirement, she devoted her life to church, community, and family. In 1985 they moved to Toccoa, GA, where they were active in the First Baptist Church of Toccoa, and the community.
A funeral service to celebrate the life of Iva Dean will be at 11:00 A.M. on Friday, July 25, 2008, at Tom M. Wages Lawrenceville Chapel. Dr. Henry Fields and Dr. Robert Browning will officiate. Interment will follow at 4:30 P.M. in the Antioch Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery, Twin City, GA. The family will receive friends on Thursday, July 24, 2008, from 5-8 P.M. at the funeral home.
