U.S. Congressman. He graduated from Drury College, in 1916 and during World War I, served in the Air Corps, U.S. Army, as a Lieutenant flight instructor, plus was the editor of the aviation magazine “Propeller”. After the war, he graduated from Cumberland University Law School, in 1922, was admitted to the bar and graduated from the Missouri School of Journalism, in 1925. He established the department of journalism at University of Florida, served as director, (1925-28) and was newspaper correspondent, secretary of Missouri Century of Progress Commission, (1930, 32). He was a member of the Missouri State House of Representatives, (1932-36, 42-44) and on the staff of the United States Senate Committee on Post Office and Civil Service, (1947-48). In 1951, he was elected as a Republican to the Eighty-second Congress, serving until 1953. After leaving politics, he continued to work as a journalist and was a member of editorial staff of Reader’s Digest until his death at age 93.
