Born in Toronto, Canada, on March 31, 1919, Alan's family moved to Los Angeles in the 1920's and he was educated in the Hollywood area.

Alan served as an infantry officer in World War II and in Korea.

Prior to retirement, Alan was Valley District Manager for the Southern California Gas Company. His numerous outside activities included serving as president of the Visalia Chamber of Commerce and the Visalia Kiwanis Club, as chairman of the Tulare County Private Industry Council and the Visalia Citizens' Advisory Committee, and foreman of the Tulare County Grand Jury.

Alan is survived by three sons.
