Mrs Marietta Carroll, age 81 years, died at the home of her son, John T Carroll, Friday April 21 at 7:00 pm.
She is survived by the following children: John T and Walter N of Troutville; Elbert W And Clinton C of Catawba; J Bryan of Lynchburg; Marvin H of Hollins and Joe Carroll, of Versailles, Ind., twenty-six grandchildren, ten great grandchildren; one brother, J H Old and on sister, Mrs Barbara Holt.
Funeral services were held at the Mt Union church Sunday afternoon by his pastor, the Rev Estus Rushing, assisted by Rev S F Fridley. She was laid to rest in the adjoining cemetery in the presence of a large assembly of friends. The many floral designs showed the high esteem in which she was held.
