Mrs. Cloud's Funeral Set for Thursday
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday for Mrs. S. R. Cloud, 83, Dallas clubwoman and church worker, who died late Tuesday at her home, 4027 Bowser.
Services will be at the First Baptist Church, 606 North Ervay. Mrs. Cloud will be buried in Restland Memorial Park.
A native of El Dorado, Ark., Mrs. Cloud had been active in the First Baptist Church here since 1907. She served as president of the women's auxiliary of that church for eighteen years during the ministry of the late Dr. George W. Truett.
One time Mrs. Cloud helped to collect money to buy the pastor an automobile, but the church deacons ruled that a car was a dangerous contraption and bought Dr. Truett a horse and buggy instead.
Mr. Cloud served for many years as assistant teacher of Mrs. Truett's Bible Class.
She had taken an active part in fund-raising campaigns for the Red Cross, Community Chest, and YWCA.
Mrs. Cloud had been a member of the Democratic Women of Dallas County, Southern Memorial, and Dallas Woman's Club.
She is survived by her husband; a daughter, Mrs. Dorothy R. Gregory of Dallas; a sister Mrs. T. W. Lanier of El Paso; and a grandson.
Her pallbearers will be T. T. Holloway, Jr., Dr. Leon Ware, Frank Spanger, Paul Cooper, E. A. Rees, and Bill Holmsely.
