ABSTRACT Died Mar. 3, 1911 at the home of Mrs. C.W. Nuff, 1035 Everett, Los Angeles. She was the wife of the governor of Puerto Rico. For years they have been estranged, the cause of the separation said to be the woman's addiction to drugs which she had been in the habit of taking as relief from pain caused by a disease of the hip joint. The Coltons had long been prominent in official life at the national capital. Before his present position, Colton was in the Philippines. His father is a close friend of President Taft. Mrs. Colton's maiden name was McCloud and she was born in Onarga, Ill. A brother, John McCloud, is a prominent attorney in Muskogee, OK. She was a familiar figure on the streets, usually being followed by a large Newfoundland dog that was poisoned a short time ago.
