Norma was the beloved wife of Gary HB Sullivan for 47 years, mother of Robin Sullivan of Middletown, MD, CSM Timothy J. Sullivan and wife Teresa of Raleigh, NC, Katie Sikora and husband Walter of Damascus, MD and Brian (Joey) Sullivan of Middletown, MD. Grandmother to Marlayna and Taylor Sikora, Jacob, Devin, Sarah, Josh and Bryce Sullivan and Collin Sullivan.
Norma was born in Takoma Park, MD on September 8, 1945, to Fred K. and Bertha Everhart Johnson. She was raised in Wheaton, Maryland and was a 1963 graduate of Wheaton High School. She was a stay at home mom until her children were grown then worked for the Gazette Newspapers, retiring in 2004 as circulation manager. During her retirement, she did volunteer work for Frederick Memorial Hospital until her illness made it too difficult.
Norma was a member of Halpine/Twinbrook Community Church in Rockville for over 32 years serving on the church council for many of those years. She loved to travel and spend time with her children and grandchildren. She was an avid supporter of our military personnel and their families. She had always shared a great enjoyment of riding motorcycles with Gary from very early on in their relationship until her illness progressed to a point where she was unable to ride. She was a member of Williamsport Ladies of Harley.
She is survived by her sister, Barbara Tompkins of Frederick, Md, brother Fred Johnson Jr. and wife Agnes of Gaithersburg, MD, sister Mary Ellen Pitrone and husband Joe of Gaithersburg, MD. She was preceded in death by her sister Linda Davis of Rockville, MD. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. Among others, she will be missed by close personal friends, JoAnne Jordan, Penny Isaacs and Anne Bird.
The family received friends at the Stauffer Funeral Home, 1621 Opossumtown Pike, Frederick, MD, on Friday, October 14, from 6–9:00 pm, where services were held Saturday, October 15 at 11:00 am with Rev. John Boyles officiating.
Interment Resthaven Memorial Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, she wishes donations to be made in her name to Twinbrook Community Church, Hospice of Frederick County,and/or The Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation.
