LEESVILLE - Heyward Duffie, 55, died Sunday morning in the Baptist Hospital in Columbia after a lingering illness.
Mr. Duffie was born in Saluda County, the son of the late J. T. and Eugena D. Duffie. He was employed formerly at Catlin-Farrish in Batesburg, and was a member of the Cedar Grove Lutheran Church.
Surviving are his wife, Annie Lou Keisler Duffie; one daughter, Mrs. Jimmie Long of Ft. Walton Beach, Fla.; three grandsons, Jimmie, Leonard and James; and one granddaughter, Lorie Long, all of Florida, his step-mother, Mrs. Maude Duffie of Batesburg; two brothers, Carl Duffie of Batesburg and J. T. Duffie Rouch of Saluda; three sisters, Mrs. Sadie Sanders of Newberry, Mrs. Lucille Clark of Ward and Mrs. Anna Goff of Batesburg.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. from the Cedar Grove Lutheran Church by the Rev. Myles Cullum. Interment will follow in the Ridgecrest Memorial Park.
The body will remain at the Attaway Funeral Home until 10 a.m. Tuesday when it will be taken to the church.
Active pallbearers will be Jack Hite, Harmon McCarty, C. C. Auerhamer, George Quattlebaum Jr., George Quattlebaum Sr. and Wilbur Shealy.
