Marvin Roisland,79, died on Tuesday, February 15, 2011 at his home in rural Thief River Falls, MN.
Funeral services were held on Friday, February 18, 2011 at Ebenezer Lutheran Church in rural Thief River Falls, MN with Rev. Johathon Dodson officiating. Casket Bearers included Michael Kolstoe, Chris Kolstoe, Tom Kolstoe, Greg Frokjer, Gary Roisland and Chris Roisland. Interment was held at Ebenezer Cemetery.
Marvin Lloyd Roisland was born on March 27, 1931 to Dreng O. and Mabel Sarah (Omdahl) Roisland on the family farm that he lived on all of his life in Kratka Township, Pennington County, MN. He was the youngest of 8 children. He was baptized and confirmed at Ebenezer Lutheran Church. He attended school at the Peppy Inn Country School. After his schooling, he stayed at home and farmed with his Dad. He continued farming that same soil all of his life. He also raised cattle and dairy for many years. Marvin retired from farming in 1994.
Marvin was united in marriage to Delores Alverda Mostrom on June 30, 1952 at Ebenezer Lutheran Church. Marvin was active collecting gas engines. He trapped in his younger years and hunted all of his life. He looked forward to deer hunting with his family every year until his health wouldn't let him. He enjoyed old antique shows and steam threshing reunions.. He like riding his fourwheeler around the country side and keeping up with the happenings in the area. He was a lifelong member of Ebenezer Lutheran Church.
Marvin is survived by his wife of almost 59 years, Delores, Thief River Falls, MN; 3 children: Larry (Lynnae) Roisland, Thief River Falls, MN. Diane (Tom) Kolstoe, Oklee, MN. Janet(Greg) Frokjer, Thief River Falls, MN; 3 grandchildren: Michael (Nicoe) Kolstoe, East Grand Forks, MN, Christopher (Nancy) Kolstoe, Red Lake Falls, MN,Pamela Kolstoe, Thief River Falls, MN; 5 great-grandchildren, Brandon, Sarah, Elijah, Laurel and Lexy Kolstoe, and mieces, nephews, cousings, other relatives and friends.
Marvin was preceded in death by one son, Steven Roisland; his parents; 7 siblings, Bess Lang, Myrt Wilson, Oscar Roisland, Thomas Roisland, Frank Roisland, Vye Wettestad, Doris Roisland; Nephews, Greg Roisland and Thomas Roisland Jr.
