Obituary of Delphia Victoria Hogan Funk
Delphia Victoria Hogan Funk, age 91, formerly of Newport, TN, went to be with the Lord on March 17, 2011, while residing in Arlington, VA.
Delphia grew up on Seventh Street in Newport and kept her childhood home in Newport as a family vacation spot until 1995.
She was the oldest daughter of Johnathan and Victoria Hogan and her siblings were Helen, Mildred, and Ruby.
After graduation from Cocke County High School in 1939, she moved to the Washington, DC area. She had a 16-year career with C&P Telephone Company, where she met her future husband Wilbur H. Funk. They were married in 1948.
She left C&P in 1956 to raise their only child David.
She went back to work in 1975 and became a successful real estate agent and broker in the Northern Virginia area.
She continued to live in her Arlington, VA residence after her husband's death in 2000.
She carried fond memories of sitting on her front porch in Newport talking with friends and family.
Services and burial were held in Arlington, VA on March 22, 2011.
