Alice A. Dahling, 90, of Ventura, passed away Tuesday, October 18, 2011. She was born November 15, 1920 in Bakersfield, California and had been a resident of Ventura for fifty years. Alice attended St. Joseph Grade School and Kern County Union High School. She retired in 1979 from Ventura County Medical Center.

She was a long-time active member of Our Lady of the Assumption Church. In 1977, Alice joined the St. Bonaventura Fraternity of the Secular Franciscan Order and continued to be a devoted and faithful follower of the charisma of St. Francis of Assisi. Alice was a contributing member of the Young Ladies' Institute #160 and a member of the American Legion Auxiliary #339.

Alice had many interests and avocations; travel, reading, oil painting, children's' reader theater, and little theater groups. She volunteered her time for Catholic Charities, the City of Ventura and as a Docent at the Ventura County Museum.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Glen Dahling and parents, Dr. Alexander Fraser and Agnes Fraser of Bakersfield. Alice is survived by her son, Terrell A. Dahling and his wife, Panee of Williamston, South Carolina; three grandchildren, Teresa, James and Bon; and sister, Dorothy Schupbach of Ventura.

Rosary will be recited Tuesday, October 25th, 9:45 A.M at Our Lady of the Assumption Church, 3175 Telegraph Rd., Ventura. Funeral Mass will begin at 10:00 A.M., with Monsignor Donal Mulcahy officiating. Burial will follow at Ivy Lawn Memorial Park.

The family would like to thank all the employees of Treacy Villa for their loving attention to Alice during the past two years.
