Munoz died Tuesday (Dec. 8, 1992) at Guadalupe Medical Center. He was born May 10, 1912, in Carlsbad, where he was raised and educated. He married Juanita Munoz in May of 1940. She preceded him in death in 1978.

He worked as a farmer for many years, and in the 1960s began doing yard work.

Munoz worked with "ACTION" as a foster parent and was a member of San Jose Catholic Church.

He is survived by his common-law wife, Elosia Munoz of Carlsbad; two sons, Antonio Munoz, Jr. and Ben Munoz, both of Carlsbad; one daughter, Cruzita Munoz of Chicago; one sister, Paula Ramirez of Carlsbad; and 19 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.

Rosary for Antonio Tarango Munoz Sr., 80, 1522 Picacho Road, will be said at 7 p.m. today in the West Funeral Home chapel. Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at San Jose Catholic Church. Burial will follow in Santa Catarina Cemetery. The Rev. John Elmer will officiate.

His grandson will serve as pallbearers.
