CORNELIA CRABTREE CANALE, 68, of Memphis, homemaker, died of cancer Sunday at her home. Services will be at 3 p.m. today at St. John's Episcopal Church. Canale Funeral Directors has charge. Mrs. Canale, the widow of Phil M. Canale Jr., leaves three daughters, Marietta C. Haaga and Scott C. Sellers, both of Memphis, and Lawrie C. Peyton of Atlanta; a son, Phil M. Canale III of Greenville, S.C.; a sister, Martha C. McCloy, and a brother, Charles C. Crabtree, both of Memphis, and eight grandchildren. The family requests that any memorials be sent to the American Cancer Society, the Hospice, or to a charity of the donor's choice. (Published in The Commercial Appeal 12/1/1997)

Only daughter of John H. Falls (1901-1930) and Martha Douglas Cole (1904-1980). Grandaughter of Mamie Ella (aka Mary E.) Cost (1872-1945). Mamie Ella Cost's father was Sgt. William Flavius Cost (Pvt., Co. B, 1st Batt'n., D. C. Inf. & Pvt. Co. K, 11th NY Cav., Sgt. Co. I, 20th Veteran Reserve and he guarded Pres. Lincoln; Plot:F5-08 (1837-1881) [Find A Grave Memorial# 53058656]. Mamie Ella Cost's mother was; Malinda Elizabeth Potterfield; (1841-1917) (Buried beside her 1st husband, William F. Cost), Plot: F5-08 [Find A Grave Memorial# 53060721]. Both William & Malinda are buried in the old cemetery, Florence, Alabama.
