B.M. BRITAIN PASSES AWAY IN SEYMOUR
Judge B.M. Britain, head of the most prominent Northwest Texas families, one of the leading citizens of Baylor county for almost 40 years, died Thursday morning at his home in Seymour. Funeral services will be held this morning in Seymour at the First Baptist Church, with the Masonic fraternity in charge.
Judge A.H. Britain went to Seymour on news of a sudden turn for the worse in his father's condition, and Mrs.
Britain and family left Thursday.
The elder Judge Britain was well known in Wichita Falls, particularly among the older citizens, and news of his death was heard with much regret, and the sympathy of countless friends are with the bereaved family.
Judge Britain was 72 years of age at the time of his death. He served a number of terms as county judge of Baylor, also as county assessor, and was the firt mayor of Seymour under the incorporation. A son, J.A. Britain is the present mayor of Seymour. He was a Confederate veteran, and a charter member of the Seymour Masonic lodge.
Surviving are his wife, two brothers, E.C. Britain of Amarillo and J.M. Britain of Kennedale, Texas, and nine children. A.H. Britain of Wichita Falls, Mrs. R.T. Dickson of Westover, Mrs. J.B. Dickson of Vera, Mrs. C.D. Paulin of El Paso, and Mrs. J.E. Lankford, Mrs. Robert Grossman, Miss Ethel Britain and J.A. Britain and B.M. Britain Jr., all of Seymour.
