Adams was discing a field near his home on Rt. 1, Ava, three miles east of the Jackson County community, Saturday afternoon.
Two nieces with whom he made his home, Lola and Ruth Duncan, said they heard a noise and saw a cloud of dust, and found Adams trapped beneath the tractor.
Adams apparently had worked the tractor and disc too near a steep embankment. An inquest is scheduled Thursday at 8 p.m. at the Wilson Funeral Home in Ava.
Adams was born in Kinkaid Township in Jackson County in 1886. He was a retired fireman for the Terminal Railroad Company in St. Louis.
He was married in 1906 to Lillian Bagley, who died in 1952.
Burial will be in the Ava Evergreen Cemetery. Ava Lodge 672, IOOF, will hold graveside rites.
