Wayne V. McDonald Aug. 6, 1931-Oct. 18, 2011
Wayne V. McDonald, age 80, of Sweetwater, TX., formerly of Newport, MI., passed away in his home October 18, 2011.
Wayne was born August 6, 1931 in Newport, MI., to Vernon and Alice (Rowe) McDonald. He married Ivalene Wagner on January 28, 1952 in Angola, IN.
Wayne graduated from Monroe High School in 1950.
He served in the Army National Guard from January 1948 to January 1964, as First Lieutenant Infantry.
He lived in and out of Sweetwater since 1981.
He was employed as a store manager in the automotive department at Western Auto Store in Sweetwater and store manager for Uniroyal Tire Co. in Detroit for 16 years, retiring in 1993.
His memberships included National Rifle Association and the N.R.A. Institute for Legislative Action.
Wayne is survived by his wife Ivalene; sons, Michael (Karen) Locke of Armada, MI., Terry McDonald of Columbus, OH., Mark McDonald of Monroe, MI. and Tim (Carrissa) McDonald of Colorado Springs, CO.; daughters, Cindy (Jeff) Borsheim of Covina, CAL., Laura (Pio) Munoz of Sweetwater, TX. and Amy Rivera of Laguna Niguel, CAL.; siblings, David McDonald, Barbara (John) Oerther and Yvonne (Mark) Mexicott; 16 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and daughter, Pamela Miekos.
Family and friends may gather from 1-8 p.m. Sunday October 23rd at the Ford Chapel-Martenson Family of Funeral Homes in Rockwood (734-379-9311), where services will be at 1 p.m. Monday October 24. Chaplain Fred Cislo will officiate. Interment will follow with full military honors by The Downriver Honor Guard at Huron Valley Cemetery in Flat Rock, MI.
