Charles Bufkin
11 Sep 1888
Word was received here by relatives that Mr. Charley Bufkin had died at his home in California with that dreadful and always fateful disease consumption. Mr. Bufkin left this neighborhood some years ago for California for the benefit of his health, but it did not do him much good and word had to the parents of Mrs. Bufkin, that even she may not be able to survive her husband long, as the same disease which took her husband away has already taken such a strong hold of her, that her physician does not think her able in the condition she is now in, to stand the trip to the home of her parents near this city.
His wife, Gertie Akerman Bufkin, returned to Iowa where she died on 15 Jan 1889.
Gertie Bufkin
Mrs. Charles Bufkin died last Tuesday morning at the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. Akkerman, who reside several miles north of town, at the age of 26 years, after having been sick for a long time with consumption. The husband having died with the same disease in California some six months ago. Two bright boys are left orphans but will be taken good care of by their grandparents. The funeral services were held at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Akkerman Thursday morning and were conducted by David Scholte.
Both of the sons lived to be about nineteen years old so Charles Bukfin has no direct descendents.
