Arthur R. Booth, 78, died peacefully at Morton Hospital, Friday, Oct. 21, 2011. A native of East Taunton, he was the son of the late Edward L. and Mary I. (Walton) Booth. He was a graduate of Taunton High School (Class of 51), Northeastern University, and the Stonier Graduate School of Banking. He had been a resident of Raynham for the past 52 years. He had a long banking career which began during his senior year in high school when he worked as a messenger for the Bristol County Trust Company on Taunton Green. After high school he became a teller, then interrupted his employment to serve in the Army at the end of the Korean War. He returned to the Bristol County Trust Company in 1959 as the manager of the new Whittenton branch. Eventually moving back to the main office at Taunton Green, he became a Senior Vice President and loan officer, and remained with the bank through mergers and name-changes to First Bristol County National Bank and Shawmut, until his retirement in 1995. After he retired, he immediately began working part-time as a mortgage consultant., which he continued for several years. Mr. Booth was married to his high school sweetheart, Caryl A. Morse for 55 years. He was active in community service and served for many years on the Finance Committee for the town of Raynham, as well as the Boards of Directors for the Plymouth Bay Girl Scouts, the Boy Scouts of America, and the United Way. He was a member of the Board of Directors of Rennie Manufacturing Company, Taunton, and a proud member of the Taunton Rotary Club. Mr. Booth enjoyed fishing and golf, and, more recently, caring for his yard and spending time with his grandchildren. Arthur leaves his wife, Caryl A. (Morse), of Raynham; daughter Cynthia B. Ricciardi, of Assonet; son Thomas A. Booth, and wife Jean, of Plymouth; grandchildren Allyson, Thomas, and Hayden; sisters Florence I. Letendre and Doris M. Terrao, both of Taunton; brother William E. Booth, of Florida; and twenty-six nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his young sons, Paul A. Booth and Kevin A. Booth; and his siblings, Edward W. Booth, Grace Mattos-Almeida, Thomas A. Booth, Harold G. Booth, Mary L. Correia, Esther C. Charron, and Everett R. Booth. Calling hours will be held Tuesday, Oct. 25 from 3 | 8 p.m., at the Crapo-Hathaway Funeral Home, 350 Somerset Ave., ( Rte. 138 south), Taunton. Relatives and friend are invited to attend a funeral from the Funeral Home, Wednesday, Oct. 26, 2011 at 9 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian burial in Holy Family Church, 438 Middleborough Ave., East Taunton at 10 a.m. Interment at St. Josephs Cemetery, East Britannia St., Taunton.
