A native of Easley, he was a son of the late Leo Lake Jameson MD and Nettie Ellison Jameson. He was retired Professor Emeritus in the College of Engineering at Clemson University, having taught for 34 years. He was a graduate of Easley High School, where he was a member of the first State Championship football team, and was selected as All State and played on the first Shrine Bowl Team. He was a 1942 graduate of Clemson A&M College, where he played on the 1940 Cotton Bowl football team, and received his Masters degree from N.C. State University. He was inducted into Easley High School Athletic Hall of Fame and the City of Easley Hall of Fame.
He was a B-17 Pilot with the 8th Air Force in England during World War II, was shot down over France, and was a POW in Germany for 15 months. He retired as a Lieutenant Colonel in the U.S. Air Force Reserves in 1960.
