Ralph William Traeger, 82, of Springfield died Tuesday, Dec. 7, 1999, at St. John's Hospice. He was born Feb. 24, 1917, in La Salle, the son of Charles and Alma Holtz Traeger. He married Cecile Cartwright in 1955.
Mr. Traeger, a veteran of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, was a former employee of Hummer Manufacturing Co. and retired from the U.S. Postal Service in 1981. He was a member of the National Association of Letter Carriers, St. John's Lutheran Church in Springfield and a 50-year member of United Commercial Travelers.
Survivors: wife, Cecile; a daughter, Katharine Traeger of Sicklerville, N.J.; three brothers, Charles, Raymond and Albert Traeger, all of Springfield; two sisters, Shirley (husband, James) Ross and Evelyne Traeger, both of Springfield; six nephews; and seven nieces.
Services: St. John's Lutheran Church, the Rev. Paul Olson officiating. Burial: Oak Ridge Cemetery.
