Ernest D. Howard, 67, of McHenry, died Saturday, July 18, 2009, at the Hospice of Northeastern Illinois Inpatient Care Unit in Woodstock.
He was born Jan. 20, 1942, in East Bernstadt, Ky., to Ernie and Mae (Pennington) Howard. He married Donna Leisch on Sept. 30, 1961, at St. Mary Catholic Church in Woodstock.
He was a 45-year member of the Woodstock Moose Lodge. He also enjoyed antique cars.
He is survived by his wife, Donna Howard of McHenry; his sons, Brian (Diane) Howard of Morris, Jeffrey (Christina) Howard of Riverview, Fla., and Todd (Jennifer) Howard of Loves Park; his grandchildren, Jeffery D., E. Aurora, Cassondra, Douglas, Danielle, Alicia and Shelby; his brother, James (Ruth Ann) Howard; his sisters, Sue (Joseph) Powers, Lila Jones, Joyce Moltrum and LaVoni (David) Manning; and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers-in-law, Elmer Jones and Hal Moltrum; and his father-in-law, Harold Leisch.
The visitation will be from 11 a.m. Tuesday, July 21, until the funeral at 1 p.m. at Schneider, Leucht, Merwin & Cooney Funeral Home, 1211 N. Seminary Ave., Woodstock. Burial will follow at Calvary Catholic Cemetery in Woodstock.
