US Senator. He served as a United States Senator from Kentucky from 1872 to 1873. Also served as a Delegate to the Kentucky State Constitutional Convention in 1849, Member of the Kentucky State Senate in 1854, Member of the Kentucky State House of Representatives in 1856, Representatives from Kentucky in the Confederate Congress from 1862 to 1865, and Delegate to the Democratic National Convention from Kentucky in 1876.
