Cy Patton was born on September 12, 1916 in Amarillo, Texas to Lee Cyrus Walter Patton Sr. and Mary Mabel Irving Patton. Cy brought love, joy, friendship, laughter, and camaraderie to everyone he met.

Cy attended school in country schools as well as Amarillo schools, and graduated from Amarillo High School. He attended Amarillo College off and on while working. While working at CR Anthony, he met Jane Craghead. After a whirlwind courtship, they married in 1940 and over the years had five girls.
Cy loved people, never met a stranger, and spread love and joy around him. He taught his girls many lessons in how to meet and deal with the uncertainties of life, from how to change a flat tire, how to paint a house and build a brick fireplace to how to treat the people you love and those you meet.
Cy loved the outdoors and began taking his family fishing and then later camping in the mountains of New Mexico. One of his cardinal rules was that anyone who fished, baited their own hook and cleaned the fish they caught. Daddy never caught many fish with the girls around but never lacked fish due to the kindness of other fishermen.
Cy worked for most of his life in the automotive parts distribution field and spent most of his working life with the same business, through three name changes.
After Jane's death in 1981, Cy became active in many creative and wonderful activities. He went canoe packing into the boundary waters in Northern Minnesota/Canada, learned to downhill ski and joined groups from Amarillo College on several ski trips to New Mexico. He soon was employed at the ski shop at the college and taught many students how to ski, as well as outfitting them with proper equipment. Several operas performed by the college were graced with his enthusiastic participation in singing, though slightly off-key, acting and stage production.
Cy was a longtime member of St. Andrew's, serving in the Vestry, lay reading, Sunday School education and singing in the choir, though slightly off-key. His church and church friends were a driving force in his life and became part of his extended family. He shared the importance of service to church and God with his daughters.
Two years after the death of Jane, Cy met the second love of his life, Belva Bennett, whose husband had passed about the same time as Jane. They were loving and strongly independent partners who supported each other in all things. Belva is definitely loved by all of Cy's children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She is their second mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, and they all send their heartfelt love and thanks for her devotion and love for Cy. Belva is the reason Cy lived to the incredible age of 95 years.
