Max Kunz, prominent retired farmer and rancher of the Knopp School community, who recently sold his ranch and lived in retirement in Fredericksburg, succumbed in a local hospital on Saturday, June 21 at 9:05 p.m.
Funeral services for Kunz were held Monday morning, June 23 at 9:30 a.m. in the Schaetter Funeral Home and at 10 a.m. in St. Mary's Church with the Rev. F. X. Wolf officiating.
St. Mary's Choir participated in the services in church and the Echo Choir, of which Mr. Kunz was a member, sang at the Catholic Cemetery, where interment was made.
Mr. Kunz was born in Fredericksburg on December 13, 1890, the son of Anton and Katherine Staudt Kunz and at the time if his death had attained the age of 56 years, 6 months and 8 days.
He was united in marriage with his surviving wife, the former Miss Cecilia Stehling on April 11, 1918.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by five daughters; Adela, San Antonio; Anita, Los Angeles, California; Cecilia, San Antonio; Celeta, Mrs. William C. Hill of Minnesota and Rose Mary of Fredericksburg.
Brothers and sisters surviving include: August Kunz; Maria, Mrs. Frank Baker; Alfred Kunz and Lina, Mrs. Max Grona.
He was preceded in death by one daughter, Dorthea; a sister, Bertha, Mrs. Alfred Hartmann and a brother, Emil Kunz.
