Meryl was born January 29, 1919 in Fremont, WI. She was the daughter of Grover and Elsie Wentzel Ulrich. She was a 1936 graduate of Weyauwega High School. On November 5, 1941 she was united in marriage to Edward W. Buchholtz in Rice Lake, WI.
She and her husband farmed in the Town of Poy Sippi, raising their family. She successfully sold World Book encyclopedias for many years. Meryl was an active member of the Ladies Aid/LWML and quilting group of Emmaus Lutheran Church in Poy Sippi. She was also an active member of Waushara County Homemakers and helped start the Poy Sippi Library. Along with being an avid gardener, Meryl expressed her artistic talents through her paintings. She will be long remembered for her excellent cooking and baking skills.
She is survived by her four children, Edward D. (Sherry) Buchholtz of Grafton, Curtis W. (Heidi) Buchholtz of Estes Park, CO, Carol (Terry) Lippert of Poy Sippi, and Lance (Julie) Buchholtz of Poy Sippi; a daughter-in-law, Nancy Buchholtz of Fond du Lac; 8 grandchildren, Kristin (Christopher) Kish, Kyle Buchholtz, Brett (Stephanie) Buchholtz, Austin Buchholtz, Jesse (Beth) Buchholtz, Jonathan (Kelly) Lippert, Megan (Andrew) Petraszak, and Adam Buchholtz; 3 great-grandchildren, Oliver and Chloe Kish and Sydney Lippert; a sister, Enid (Mike) Zimmermann of Winneconne; and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband on December 22, 2005; a son, Evan in 1995; a sister, Norma Schmoker; and a brother Ronald Ulrich.
Funeral Services were held on Tuesday, October 25 at Emmaus Lutheran Church in Poy Sippi, the Rev. Mark Meier Sr. officiating.
Interment was in Poy Sippi Cemetery.
