Hannah Elena Heiskari was born 2 Feb 1884 in MN. Hannah was the daughter of Andrew Heiskari and Eugenia Effina Wanha.

Hannah married Charles James Olson and later divorced. Charles and Hannah had 3 children:
Vernon Edward 1908-1993
Ruth Eugina 1909-1968
Irene Mildred 1913-1976.

Hannah later married Ingvald Hatlestadt on 22 Jun 1922 in Codington, SD.

... The correct spelling is Heiskari. Some family members have - or still do - end it with a 'Y', I guess to Americanize it, maybe. Ingvald (Not 'Ingvold') was born in 1890, not 1891. I've never known his mother's maiden name, so 'Gurri' is news to me, although it doesn't sound Norwegian to me..

Grandma Hannah was born on Feb.2, 1884, NOT 1886, and her middle name was Elena. Although Ingvald never adopted them, Uncle Ed (Vernon Edward), your mom and my mom went by the name Hatlestad, I guess to stop wagging tongues, because in that time in history, divorced women were looked upon as Scarlet Women, and were ostracized in polite society. Your Aunt Ruth's maiden name on my birth certificate is Hatlestad, also. Grandma Hannah divorced Grandpa Olson, whose name was Charles James Olson - it should've been Olsen, not Olson, but guess it got screwed up at the Immigration Office, as was the case so often - after he shot and almost killed her in the farmyard of the (Heiskari) place in rural Annandale, in about 1919. Your mom remained with her during her rather long recovery, but your Aunt Ruth and Uncle Ed were farmed out - Aunt Ruth went to live with Jacob Hoikka, a relative, and Ed went to live with some former neighbors by the name of Lohse. I'm not positive on the spelling of that, but I think it's right....

One last thing; Your Aunt Ruth's name was Ruth Eugenia, Eugenia being the first name of Grandma Hannah's mother, whose maiden name was Wanha who married a Heiskari, Grandma Hannah's maiden name, to repeat myself.

Hannah passed away on 1 Dec 1957 in Wright Co., MN
