Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church, Newtonburg, with the Rev. A.T. Degner officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
He was born June 21, 1879, at Manitowoc Rapids, son of the late John and Margaret Meyer Ewald. He married Elizabeth Schramm May 15, 1906, at Manitowoc. The family operated a farm in the Town of Manitowoc Rapids for many years. His wife preceded him in death in 1957. He was a member of the St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church board, a director of the district school, a director of the Silver Creek Telephone Co. and a member of the Town Board for 10 years.
Surviving are a son, Armin of Rt. 1, Manitowoc, a daughter, Mrs. Lester Schultz of Rt. 1, Manitowoc and seven grandchildren. Three brothers preceded him in death.
Friends may call after 3 p.m. Thursday at the State Street entrance at Urbanek and Schlei Funeral Home, Manitowoc, until 11 a.m. Friday when the casket will be moved to the church where the body will lie in state until time of service.
