Mrs. Herman Ewald, 87, who resided with her son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Luebke, of 348 N. 13th St., Manitowoc, died Monday morning at Memorial Hospital, Manitowoc. Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at St. John Lutheran Church, Newtonburg. The Rev. A.T. Degner will officiate and burial will be in the church cemetery.

Mrs. Ewald, nee Clara Hackmann, was born Aug. 11, 1883, in the Town of Manitowoc Rapids, daughter of the late John and Louise Puls Hackmann. She was married to Herman Ewald Sept. 17, 1901, at St. John Church, Newtonburg. The couple resided in Manitowoc Rapids until 1906, moving to Cato and coming to Manitowoc in 1952. Mrs. Ewald was a member of the Homemakers Club and the Ladies Aid Society of the church. Her husband preceded her in death Jan. 17, 1923.

Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Charles (Amanda) Luebke, of Manitowoc and several nieces and nephews. Two sons preceded her in death.

Friends may call at Urbanek and Schlei Funeral Home, Manitowoc, after 4 p.m. Tuesday until noon Wednesday and then at the church until the time of service.
