Mr. Ruben Carl Hackmann, 72, of 7613 Hackmann Rd., died Sunday, February 5,
1989 at Manitowoc Health Care Center. Funeral services will be 10 am Wednesday
at St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church, Newtonburg. Rev. Timothy Ehlers will
officiate and burial will be in the church cemetery.
Mr. Hackmann was born February 6, 1916 in the Town of Manitowoc Rapids, son of
the late Emil and Marie Liermann Hackmann. He attended Silver Lake Schools and
entered the Service in World War II, serving in the European Theatre of Operations,
being discharged in 1945. He married Dorothea Lahr June 19, 1945 in London, England.
The couple owned and operated a dairy farm in the Manitowoc area until retiring
in 1981.
Survivors include his wife, a son and daughter-in-law, David and Carol Hackmann
of Greenleaf, Wisconsin; four grandchildren, Darren, Andrew, Kay and Brian Hackmann
of Greenleaf, Wisconsin; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Arno and Lucile Hackmann
and Kermit and Dorraine Hackmann, all of Manitowoc; a sister and brother-in-law,
Vernetta and Elroy Stauss of Manitowoc; cousins, nieces and nephews.
Friends may call at St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church, Newtonburg, 4:30 pm to
8 pm Tuesday. A memorial had been established in his name. Jens Funeral Home,
Manitowoc, is assisting the family with the arrangements.
