Obituary of James B. Batchelor, Sr.
(August 24, 1941 - October 26, 2011)

Gulfport, MS ~ James B. Batchelor, Sr., 70, died October 26 in Gulfport. He was born in Peoria, IL, and moved to Gulfport when he was twelve. He was a member of the Gulfport High School Class of 1959 and graduated from the University of Southern Mississippi at the age of twenty.

He was an officer in the U.S. Navy for five years. Then he was an investment broker for thirty-five years and retired from Morgan Stanley in New Orleans in 1998 after a stroke. He moved back to Gulfport after Katrina and was a member of the Gulfport Yacht Club.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ralph and Mary Batchelor, and his youngest son, Jordan.

He is survived by his wife, Linda Hoff; his sister, Barbara Harris of Metairie; his brother Ralph Jr. "Butch" (Kat) of Mineola, TX; his former brother-in-law, Emerson Harris of Diamondhead; six children: Jay (Nancy) of Melbourne, FL; Jason (Deborah) of Pass Christian; Justin of Ocean Springs; James Jr. of Madisonville; Jamie Beth of Covington; and Joshua of New Orleans; three stepdaughters: Giselle (Frank) Ballesteros and Mignon (Leonard) de Klerk of Morton Grove, IL, and Bonnie Hungerford of Brandon, MS, Maddie of Covington and one granddaughter, He will be buried Saturday, October 29, in Long Beach. Visitation will be from 1:00 to 2:00 at the Riemann Family Funeral Home, 19130 Commission Road, Long Beach with burial to follow at Gulf Pines Memorial Gardens in Long Beach. Pall bearers will be his six children.

In lieu of flowers the family prefers donations to Feed My Sheep, PO Box 6833, Gulfport, MS 39506.
