Funeral Service Is Held Here on Tuesday Afternoon

Local Citizen Long Prominent in Business in Woodburn Succumbs at Home Late Sunday

David Strain Livesay, 88, one of Woodburn's old time citizens and business men, passed away at his home here late Sunday following an extended illness.

Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon at the O'Hair chapel followed by burial in Belle Passi beside the body of his wife, who had died in 1935.

He had been a resident of Woodburn for some 40 years and had been engaged in the sawmill and lumber business much of the time. He had been retired from active business for a number of years. He was born September 2, 1952, in Moultrie county, Illinois. At the age of 18 he moved to Mound Valley, Kansas.

He was married on November 20, 1873, to Jane Hight, and they moved to Oregon in 1878. They first settled at Oregon City, but in 1891 moved to Woodburn. He had been active member of the Methodist church for 70 years, the last 49 years of that time with the church in Woodburn. He is survived by sons Charles Wallace of Portland, Roy R of Dallas and James of Woodburn, daughter Mabel Livesay of Woodburn, 13 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.

Honorary pallbearers at the funeral were A E Austin, J J Hall, Chas. Ogle, Henry Layman, Charles Rice and Dr. Thos K Sims. Six grandsons served as active pallbearers; these were Charles, Virgil, Stanley, Wayne and Ernest and Harold Livesay.
