In 1937, became fire fighter with Engine Company 247 in Brooklyn
In 1948, retired as Lieutenant in Fire Dept. Subsequently became owner/operator of Piccolo Shop @ 911 Prospect Avenue where he sold and repaired radios, television sets, and record players and equipment.
On Jan 9, 1968, became the 5th recipient of heart transplant. Unfortunately the heart was too small and he died within 10 hrs of the transplant, becoming the 3rd heart transplant recipient death.
