"He united with Steccoah Baptist Church when a youth, was ordained to the ministry May 1845 and served the Steccoah Church as Pastor 41 years. He served the Mountain Association as Moderator 35 years. He preached to many other churches and was faithful to his charges, contending earnestly for the faith, and died at his post. Peace to his sleeping dust until God shall bid it arise in the resurrection morn." "Asleep in Jesus."
