Sarah Estelle Townsend Messemer, widow of Henry Messemer late of Forsterdale, died Tuesday night, Oct. 20, at the home of her son Charles J., Vestal, near Binghamton, following a light stroke a month ago. The body will be brought by motor hearse to Fosterdale Friday for burial in the cemetery there, and a service will be held in the Methodist church at 2 p.m. by Rev. Mr. Westlake of Cortland, a friend of the family.
Mrs. Messemer was born at Fosterdale April 2, 1856, a daughter of James Townsend and Letitia (illegible), and about forty-eight years ago married Henry Messemer, who died there Oct. 8, 1929. Mrs. Messemer went to her son's home in 1935. Surviving are two sons; Jesse W. and Charles, in the automobile business at Endicott, and a brother, George L. Townsend at Fosterddale.
