Early Life: She was born June 16, 1905, in Parker, Idaho, the daughter of Edward David and Laura May Jackson Jones. Her family moved to Provo, Utah, when she was a young girl where she lived until 1950. She was educated in Provo City schools and Brigham Young University.
Life's Work | Service | Interests: She lived in Santa Ana and Redlands, California; Orem and Brigham City, Utah; and for the last 10 months, in Salt Lake City. She was city auditor in Provo before moving to California. She was an active member of the LDS Church and served as president of ward YWMIA and Relief Society and in stake YWMIA presidency in Provo and Santa Ana. She also taught in all auxiliaries. She was especially interested in programs for young people and was given the honorary Golden Gleaner Award in 1955. Iva Laura Jones Benson Sandstrom , of Salt Lake City, Utah, died at home of natural causes. She was 73.
Survived By: Her son, David K. Benson, of Mapleton, UT; two daughters: Colleen (Ronald) Law, of Brigham City, UT; Barbara (Richard) Summerhays, Alta Loma, CA; 20 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; her brothers: Earl E. Jones, Ronald L. Jones, Leston D. Jones; her sisters: Orpha (Edwin) Vest, Myrtle (Albert) Buckley and Vivian (Merrill) Waters.
