My oldest nephew was one of a kind. He was born when I was 12 years old...I was an Uncle for the first time! It was exciting and very cool. And that was and has been my name that my nephews and nieces have called me is Uncle. "Little Ray" as he was known for the longest time, went to his first Royals basebal game when he was about 11...and it was a cold nite out there! We drank hot chocolate one after another and I bought us mittens with the Royals logo on them to keep our hands warm. But we had a blast. I would take him to many more games after that and the second best one was one where we took his dad, my brother, as well. One of many great times we had together. The many visits to my place when I lived in Arkansas, to the Easter egg hunts, birthdays, Christmases and all the other fun times...I am still coming to grips with the fact that he has left us at an early age from a senseless accident. We all miss you so much....and we all love you. So long for now. On Saturday, October 29, 2011, a dearly loved son, father, brother and friend, Raymond Eugene Barnes, Jr. departed this world at the age of thirty-four years, three months, and twenty-six days. Although we will miss him we have hope that someday we will be with him again. Raymond Eugene Barnes, Jr. was born on July 3, 1977 at Providence Saint Margaret Hospital in Kansas City, Kansas to Raymond E. Barnes, Sr. and Martha Tidona. He is preceded in death by his paternal great-grandmother Mary Masters. Raymond is survived by his children Malachi, Natalie, Tiffanie and Brett Barnes, his mother Marty Day and her husband Lee, all of the home; his father Raymond Eugene Barnes, Sr. of Seymour, Missouri; his sisters, Stephanie Rhodes of Rogersville, Missouri, Kathy Barnes, Crystal Barnes both of Kansas City, Missouri; his brothers, Johnny Barnes of Seymour, Missouri, Michael Barnes of Kansas City, Missouri; his maternal grandparent Amanda Patton of Kansas City, Missouri; his paternal grandparents Carl and Helen Johnson of Seymour, Missouri, his Uncle Carl and wife Aunt Christin Johnson of Leavenworth, Kansas, his Uncle Truman(Billy) Barnes and his wife, Aunt Becky Ritterhouse of Hampstead MD., his Aunt Rita Barnes of Seymour, and his Aunt Ginny Frantz of Seymour along with a host of other aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews; and the mother of his children Linda Barnes whom was the love of his life. Growing up in the Seymour area, Ray was a true country boy with fishing on his mind. He walked these old rugged hills at peace with the world, quick with a smile and took the time for those he cared for. He was a specialist in laying tile and worked hard to provide for his family. Loving, compassionate, a soft-hearted man, Ray was a wonderful son. His family was his world, and he left a legacy of love behind for them to carry on. He enjoyed fishing, cooking, spending time with family and friends, but he was at his happiest with his children. He knew there was someone up above to put his faith in so; Raymond began attending church with his children. Raymond Barnes, Jr. was a loving and devoted father, son, brother, uncle, nephew and a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate his life and will treasure the wonderful memories he has created. We are proud of the man that you became, you were well loved and we will miss you.
