Catherine Dehn, age 87, of Johnsburg, died peacefully on May 17, 2018 at home with the love of family and friends surrounding her.

Kate (Katie, Maizie) is survived by her children, Carol (Rick) Wakitsch, John (Cheryl) Dehn, Joe (Shelly) Dehn, Mark (Rhonda) Dehn, Sue (Ron Siverling) Dehn; grandchildren, Heather (Steve) Nethaway, Kelly (Benji) Winkelman, Eric McGregor, Jane Wakitsch, Karin (Chris) Jackowiak, Ryan McGregor, Jake (Kathy) Wakitsch, Matthew Dehn, Cristina (Christopher) Gianvecchio, Scott Dehn, Joey Dehn, Stephanie (Colin) Nugent; 22 great-grandchildren; and siblings, Harold (Marilynn) May.

She is preceded in death by her husband of over 40 years, Richard Dehn; parents, William(Hilda) May; infant son, David Dehn; and siblings, Richard and Joseph May.

Katie was a true "Burger" at heart and each and every one who was blessed to have known her was treated to that special smile and received nothing but love and kindness.

She was involved in the National Catholic society Of Foresters for many years and the St. John's BVM Sodality. As a member of the St. John the Baptist prayer chain, Katie offered daily rosaries for all those in need.

Many memorable years were spent working at Hornsby's in McHenry and for the last 20 years she drove for Dental Craft, Ringwood, IL.

It is our belief that Katie is now happily reunited with "Dehner" and anxiously awaiting this year's Cubs world series win. While we will miss her greatly; we fell blessed to have had her in our lives for so many wonderful years.

Cremation rites were held privately, per her wishes. A memorial mass will be celebrated on Thursday, May 31, 2018 at 10:00am at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 2302 W Church St, Johnsburg, IL 60051. Prior to the mass, family will be gathering in the back of church beginning at 9:30am. A celebration of her life, including a luncheon, will be held at the Johnsburg community Club on Saturday, June 16, 2018 at noon. Please join us to share a story, shed a tear or two, but most importantly, honor our mom, sister, grandmother, Gigi, and special friend to many.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. John the Baptist Church, 2302 W Church St, Johnsburg, IL 60051.

Funeral arrangements are being handled by Colonial Funeral Home & Crematory. For more information call 815-385-0063, or log onto www.colonialmchenry.com.
