MARY A. ABROMAITIS, 88 BELVIDERE - Mary A. Abromaitis, 88, of Belvidere died peacefully Wednesday, Sept. 29, 2010, in P.A. Peterson Center for Health, after a long illness.
Born Oct. 16, 1921, in Chicago, the daughter of Joseph and Barbara (Kotzer) Thomas. Mary retired from Wrigley Gum Co., as a machine operator and forelady. She belonged to the Catholic faith. She was a lifetime Cubs fan. Mary enjoyed watching the Cubs games, puzzles, board games and crocheting in her spare time.
Survived by daughter, Barb Prochnicki of Belvidere; son, John Abromaitis of Las Vegas; daughter-in-law, Terry Abromaitis; sweetheart, Richard Tomasek; five grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and sister, Dorothy Drabek of Dixon.
Predeceased by parents; husband, John; a infant daughter; and son, Richard in 2010.
To help others, Mary donated her eyes to the Midwest Eye Bank. The family wishes to express their gratitude to the loving staff of Bergmark Villa at P.A. Peterson.
Funeral Information
Memorial visitation from 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 2, in Buck-Wheeler-Hyland Funeral Home, 218 W. Hurlbut Ave. Cremation will take place. No formal services.
