Her first appearance in the Federal Census with her husband is in 1870 in Lampasas County, Texas. By this time she and Henderson had four children, all listed below.
She and Henderson had a fifth child in 1873, Henderson Bly Dobbins (1873-1925), and all five children are living in their home at the time of the 1880 Census.
With the death of her husband in 1897, Sallie had moved into the home of her son Walter Nathaniel Dobbins when the 1900 Census was taken. In 1910, however, she is shown as living alone, in Lampasas, Lampasas, Texas, on 3rd Street.
Her exact death date and burial location has been provided by her great grandson found in the Lampasas Library from the year 1913:
"W.N. Dobbins is in receipt of a letter from a brother at White Flat, Texas, stating that the mother, Mrs S.A. Dobbins, died there on July 4th at 3:30 in the afternoon. Mrs Dobbins lived in this county for many years and up to a short time ago made her home in the city of Lampasas. She has many friends in this section who will regret to learn of her death. She was a member of the Christian Church here and lived to a ripe old age."
Based on this data, it is most likely that she had decided to move with her son, James Montgomery Dobbins (the brother of W.N. Dobbins mentioned above) and his family, who were moving from the Lampasas area (Gatesville, Coryell, Texas) to the Texas panhandle town of Canadian, Hemphill, Texas by wagon. Sadly, she did not complete that trip, passing in White Flat (aka Whiteflat), Motley, Texas; information confirmed by publication of her death notice in The Lampasas Leader.
