According to the cemetery office and Ila Sosebee Lark,
Her mother, a slave who was being transported across the Atlantic Ocean, went into labor and gave birth to a daughter. The little girl received the name Atlantic Ocean as a result. The child was later adopted by the Edwards family. Thank you Ila for sharing this story about her.
