Father Leopold Haas
The Rev. Leopold Haas, 73, pastor of the Church of the Assumption, ninth at Franklin streets, St. Paul, died at St. Joseph's hospital Tuesday. Born in Jergen, Austria, he came to the United States in 1875, and attended St. John's University at Collegeville, Minn. He was ordained to the priesthood in 1886. His first parish was in Springfield, Minn. Before coming to St. Paul, he was stationed at Glencoe. He took charge of the church of the Assumption in 1916, and has been there ever since. The office of the dead will be recited at 10:30 a.m. Friday and a pontifical high mass will be sing at 11 a.m. by Archbishop Murray. Burial will be in Calvary cemetery.
