Thomas Harrison Baker is my 3rd great-grandfather. He was the first of our Baker family to settle in Texas, having moved his family from Washington County, Gerogia in the early 1850s to land he purchased near Brenham in Washington County, Texas. At the outbreak of the Civil War he enlisted in the cause of the Confederacy. From sources I have read, it appears Thomas passed away about 1863, the exact date, cause of death, and site of burial are unknown to me at the present time. I have made three trips to Brenham and personally searched the major area cemeteries, with no results. As a result, it is my hypothesis that Thomas died in Washington County and was buried on the tract of land he owned near Brenham. I am in hopes another relative or researcher will step forward with more concrete information. [RB - October 2011]
