Kline was a miner, with his final position as Section Foreman. His life ended when he was gunned down. The homicide occurred at the lamp house of the mine in Dehue.

On his WWI draft registration, his own signature is: Frederick K. Bolt. On the WWII registration, he signed: Cline Bolt, and the section where his name is printed is: Cline Fred Bolt. The West Virginia Death Index and the hand-written entry in the state's ledger list him as: Cline Frederick Bolt. Social Security lists him as: Cline F. Bolt. On his 1900 Census, he was Cline. Census 1910, 1920, and 1930 recorded Kline, but 1940 used Cline. A city directory listed him as Cline.

Note from creator of this memorial: I have been recording family history since I was a young child, and the closest relatives always, in my recollection, spelled his name Kline, but other family members spelled it Cline. Clearly, use of both was acceptable since he, himself, signed important records both ways at different times. It is not unusual on old records of many people to see the first and middle name reversed, as well.
