Joan Ellis Ayres, age 69, Ozark, passed away Tuesday, April 11, 2000, in her home. She was born December 14, 1930 in Sedalia, Mo., the daughter of John George and Travis Hermoine Fischer Ellis. On July 5, 1946, she was united in marriage to the Reverend Olen Lee Ayres. Joan was a member of Calvary Bible Church in Nixa. She was a longtime member and president of the PTA in Sylvan Hills, Ark., where she taught school for many years. Also, she was a factory worker, talented seamstress, and church pianist. Joan was an avid collector of Pillsbury Doughboys, and was a charter member of the Lovin' Connection Pillsbury Doughboy Club. She was a member of the Springfield chapter of the Wayne Newton fan club. Most of all, Joan was a devout Christian, devoted wife and loving "mommy." Survivors include, her husband, Reverend Olen Lee Ayres; four children, George Ayres and his wife Anna, California, Linda Pagan and her husband Larry, Ozark, Marcia Cricket Warren, Springfield and Ellis Ayres and his wife Mary, Nixa; eleven grandchildren, Christina Wayne, Sabrina, John, Rensen, Jody, L. V. Josh, Lauren, Nicole and Ashley; two great-grandsons, Adam and Vinny; numerous special relatives and a dearly loved pet, Rusty. She was preceded in death by a brother, Bobby Dean Ellis, when he was fourteen years old, and later by her parents. Funeral services were 2:00 p.m. Saturday, April 15, in Adams Funeral Home, Ozark, with the Pastor Joe Fahl officiating. Visitation was Friday in the funeral home. Burial was in White Chapel Memorial Gardens, Springfield.
