Glasco Sun, Dec. 13, 1945, page 1:
Wilford Overton Beardmore, son of Eman H. and Rebecca Jane Beardmore, was born in Malaga, Ohio, March 18, 1868. In 1872 his parents located in the Highland neighborhood and cast their lot with the pioneer settlers of that community. There, at the age of four years, he began the molding of the friendship of those of his generation.
Energy, frugality and determination marked his course. High honor and integrity were outstanding in his efforts, and close cooperation with those of his generation placed him in the fore ranks of the many who built a rural center of which generations have been justly proud.
At the age of 14 years, he united with the West-Asher Community Christian church. He was united in marriage to Cora Lewis in Wallace county, Kansas, on October 3, 1889. To this union were born eight children, six boys and two girls: Carl of Seattle, Wash.; Earl of Beloit; Mead of Mankato; Mrs. Lois Slater of Chase; Raymond of Manhattan; Roy and Mrs. Verna Nutland of Glasco, and Forrest of the U.S. Navy. Thirteen grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren also survive.
The family moved to Oklahoma in 1913 and located near Pryor, where they remained until 1919, when they returned to the Glasco community. In 1920 the deceased was elected to the board of county commissioners from the third district. During his tenure of office of four years, he threw the full force of his might in the service of his constituents. They family was located in Mankato for 17 years, where he was closely associated with his sons in business.
His riches were abounding in love and affection for his family and his friends. He has bequeathed to society an offspring of high class citizens. His benedictions were most pronounced in service to others. When he felt that his service was most needed, the curtains of evening were drawn about his window, on December 4, 1945, marking the end of a well rounded life of 77 years, 8 months and 16 days.
His wife and family and a community of friends mourn his passing.
Funeral services were conducted from the Christian church in Glasco, Friday afternoon, Dec. 7, at 2:30 o'clock, by the Rev. Kaiser of Herington. Interment was in Glasco cemetery.
